The first case of COVID-19 disease was recorded on March 3, 2020, a state of emergency was introduced on March 25 in connection with it, and from March 28, borders were closed. Then the authorities began to track people distributing false information about coronavirus on the Internet and write them fines.
In early April 2020, an application was launched in the country to control the observation and self-isolation of Diy Vodoma. Every day it sent a person notifications with the need to take selfies with geolocation. In 2021, the application also continues to work.
In September 2021, two types of COVID passports were introduced in the country - "yellow" and "green" - the presence of which gives their owners certain privileges. Passports contain information about the COVID-19 suffered, the result of a PCR test and vaccination, while "green" - for those who were vaccinated completely (validity period is 1 year) and "yellow" - who were given at least 1 dose of vaccine (validity period is 120 days). The certificate can be generated in the Diya application and printed if necessary.
In October 2021, reports appeared that soon the authorities intend to use cameras with artificial intelligence to control the mask regime and observe the social distance.
As of October 12, 2021, more than 6.2 million people were vaccinated in the country.
