From the beginning of the pandemic around the world, the Turkmen authorities claimed the absence of coronavirus in the country. As of September 2021, the statements of the authorities have not changed. However, on July 7, 2021, compulsory vaccination of all citizens was announced.
In August 2021, it became known that citizens who refused vaccination were fined, threatened with dismissal, and pensioners - deprivation of pensions. In addition, for vaccination, citizens are required to pay for vaccination in the amount of 300 manats (approximately $85).
No information was found on the use of surveillance in the country using mobile applications or other technological means.
