From March 16 to May 11, 2020, quarantine and a state of emergency were introduced, the borders of regions and cities were closed, and from April 2020, citizens were held accountable for disseminating false information about coronavirus on the Internet.
The Smart Astana application was developed, which was used to monitor compliance with the quarantine and self-insulation regime based on included Wi-Fi, geolocation, Bluetooth, the Sergek system was used to monitor citizens' routes and monitor quarantine compliance, drones were also used for the same purposes in some regions.
In February 2021, the Ministry of Health of Kazakhstan announced that citizens who have completed a full course of vaccination will be assigned QR codes. All information about vaccination will be stored in the mobile application EgovMobile, which in turn is integrated with another coronavirus application - Ashyq.
In addition, leaks of personal data of citizens with coronavirus were recorded in the country, as well as facts of forgery of vaccination certificates.
As of October 11, 2021, the number of vaccinated citizens amounted to 6.94 million people.
