The spread of COVID-19 in Azerbaijan began on February 28, 2020, when the first case of COVID-19 infection in the country was recorded by the operational headquarters of the Cabinet of Ministers of Azerbaijan created the day before.

General quarantine in Azerbaijan was introduced on March 31, 2020 and tightened on April 5: residents of large cities were allowed to leave the house for no more than two hours. In mid-June, Azerbaijan decided to extend the special quarantine regime until August 1, 2020 amid a worsening situation. The country uses a system of SMS permits to leave the house for a good reason.

In May 2021, the authorities announced the introduction of COVID passports, which will be necessary, including for visiting fitness centers and other gyms from June 10, 2021. You can get such a document in the application of the state portal e-Təbib. You can print or save data on your mobile device. On the same portal, citizens issue a certificate of the transferred COVID-19, but it will be issued only if the personal data of the person has previously been entered in the register of infected people. Both documents contain a QR code for quick on-demand verification.

As of October 10, 4.1 million residents of the country underwent full vaccination.
